About Quest

Calgary Quest School is a leading autism school in Calgary providing specialized education and support for children and youth on the autism spectrum.

Our Story

Calgary Quest Children’s Society was established in 1980 by a group of caring parents of students with challenges. These parents formed a non-profit society and wrote a philosophy that continues to this day. In 1995, Calgary Quest School approached the Alberta Government to become a Designated Special Education Private School (DSEPS). Once this designation was granted, Calgary Quest School took its place as a fully sanctioned school designated to bring dignity and respect for education of students with significant challenges.

In March 2024, we took a significant step towards our vision of becoming a community-based service provider with the opening of our new Sunalta Campus. This innovative learning hub for high school students and young adults with moderate to severe developmental disabilities is designed to foster independence, life-skills, and real-life experiences in a community setting. The Sunalta campus marks the beginning of our long-term vision to integrate our students and participants into neighborhoods where services and opportunities are readily accessible, ensuring that education extends beyond the classroom and into the heart of the community.

After 20 incredible years at our Spruce Cliff location, Calgary Quest School officially opened the doors to our brand-new Barlow Campus on September 8th 2025!

The Barlow Campus represents more than just a change in location, it’s a powerful step forward in Quest’s long-term vision to become a true community-based model. Here, students are welcomed as valued members of the neighborhood and supported in safe, accessible spaces designed to meet their unique needs while fostering both education and real-life experiences.

Every detail of the renovation was thoughtfully planned with our learners in mind, supporting emotional regulation, social connection, academic growth, and movement.

Mission

Boldly championing inclusive learning opportunities and life pathways for children and adults with diverse abilities.

Vision

Inclusion, belonging and achievement.

Values

Quest does not wait to be asked. The society champions its students, their families, and the broader community of people with diverse abilities - in its classrooms, in the community, and in the halls of government.

Bold Advocacy

Life Pathways Thinking

Quest sees the whole arc of a person's life. From early learning through adulthood, it plans, programs, and advocates with the long view in mind.

Every program, every space, and every relationship is designed to open doors - not narrow them. Inclusion is not a policy; it is how Quest works.

Inclusive Opportunity

Quest reports honestly on what it does and what it achieves. It invests carefully and stewards’ resources on behalf of the families, funders, and donors who trust it.

Accountability and Impact

Families are co-navigators of their child's journey, not simply recipients of services. Quest walks alongside them - through the school years and beyond.

Whole-Family Partnership

Continuous Learning

Quest evaluates, adapts, and improves - at the classroom level, the program level, and the organizational level.
